I am posting this link here in case anyone else runs into this problem with their Go.
If you install a licensed copy of Office that is activated by logging in to a licensing server, even though your copy of Office shows that it's activated, every time you open one of the Office applications, you are nagged to try, buy, or activate.

Somehow, I munged Office during uninstall/reinstall and the MS Office repair/remove tool didn't work. I tried repeatedly and even did the manual cleanup.
MS tech support was no help at all (and didn't call me when they'd scheduled a call back). I finally ended up reinstalling Windows and then all my software this morning. There's no telling how many hours I have wasted trying to resolve this issue, but it's done so now I can actually start using my Go.
I hope to have time later today or tomorrow morning to mention some of the things I've tried with my Go.
