Surface Pro 4 stopped charging with regular charger

Hi all, I've been suffering with this frustrating issue for a while, can't seem to find any solutions online.

I have a Surface Pro 4 (coming up to 2 years old).

I recently purchased a portable battery for my surface - a Poweradd Pilot Pro2 23000mAh Multi-Voltage (that supports 12v) so that I can charge it on the go. And it works great!

Sadly, since using the portable battery, the Surface no longer charges from the original charger it came with.

I took it to a computer store who tested it with a different charging cable, but the surface still doesn't charge - the light on the charger doesn't turn on, and the surface doesn't recognise it. The guys at the store just suggested to go on Microsoft's official support website, but it doesn't really offer me any solutions.

At the moment I'm having to charge my surface through the portable battery, which is fine, but it takes a lot longer and it's not always consistent. I don't want to have to rely on it all the time.

Any suggestions welcome, thanks in advance!
