Well explained reason why we can't send files using wifi

For mobile devices and to an extent pc, you can send files via bluetooth, quite easily. Switch on BT, search for files to send, search for recipient and send - and it's done, though it can take a while depending on file size.

We know wifi is much faster than Bluetooth, so why hasn't a wifi standard for sending files been released? In the same manner, search files, search recipient and send

Is there a technical reason or something else? I'm not asking for file transfer apps that more often than not have to be installed on both devices and use actual internet to send

Any ideas?
