Predictive text on keyboad adds word to already typed letters.

I love predictive text on my devices. However I cannot get it to work right on my S4Pro. If I begin typing a word it brings up the word options. If I choose one it then appends the word to the already typed text creating a misspelled word. E.g. I type d..a..y intending to type daylight. It offers daylight and when I select it I get "daydaylight." Anyone else experience this?
