After installing Bash, can I disable developer mode?

According to this article: http://ift.tt/2u4UBhK You need to enable developer mode so that you can install bash

But after bash is installed and working, should developer mode be enabled always or can I disable it?

I haven't gotten around to installing it yet but I'm curious to know what would happen
