Why didn't Microsoft Lumia survive in the market

I passed my SSC exam and after one year my father gifted me Lumia and I was overwhelmed because it was first ever mobile and I was on cloud 9. Unfortunately, I had to switch to Android. At that time my friend was laughing at me because Lumia didn't support the top games at that era such as temple run and subway surfer but it was first ever device and I want to know the reasons.
