Why does Lumia camera not work on 640 XL

A while back my Lumia camera stopped working. I gave up resetting and retrying the install and went for a 360 Sight camera as an interim measure. However it does not appear to have video recording . So now I am stuck not being able to record any video. I would like to either get a fix on the Lumia camera or know what is the best way to record video on my 640xl. Any help greatly appreciated
