"windows 8 mode" prevents uninstall from windows 10 laptop

I have a new laptop that came with Windows 10 installed. After working well for a month, it regularly stops loading any webpage, and the only thing that works some of the time is to reboot the entire computer. I wanted to uninstall, but I get the message, "Please uninstall all Google Chrome windows including those running in Windows 8". I have no idea what this has to do with my computer, or how to fix it or get Chrome off my computer
