I know Cortana (sometimes) lets you reply to SMS messages when she works. But when at work, I'm logged into my PC with my work account, while my phone obviously uses my personal account. So that won't work.

Is this even on MS radar for coming features?

Has something changed with Cortana's ability to be able to schedule reminders?

I've got a Lumia 950 with Windows 10 Mobile. I used to be able to activate Cortana and ask her to set a reminder for myself. I tried doing that today, but nothing happened. Is there some issue with Cortana? Could it be something else, like reception?

Tap to Pay broken after updating to 14393.479

I read some comments about this in the comments section of the article for the update, but I didn't see anything in the forums about it.

Problem: After updating to 14393.479 I received an email from my credit card bank which stated my card had been removed from MS Wallet. I checked the app and my CC info is gone and there is no way to add it back. But, in the NFC settings, the option for tap to pay is still there and MS Wallet is selected.
I tried turning tap to pay off, restart then turn it back in and still broke. Restarting also did nothing. I know a few other people had this same issue as stated in the article comments.

Has anyone found a solution? or are we just waiting for MS to fix what they just broke?

Groove and Windows Store randomly opening on their own

Over the past week or so, I've encountered a very odd problem on my Surface Book.

Mysteriously, Groove Music and the Windows Store seem to randomly open themselves every 15 minutes or so. I've tried rebooting and checking for the latest updates, but no dice. I haven't installed anything new in that time frame either, so its very odd. Ran a full scan with Windows Defender and nothing was found.

Another weird thing is that the apps don't actually completely open up either. You're stuck with a blue background in the app with either the Groove or Store logo in the center. Happens if all I do is log in and just let things sit for a while. Additionally, the store app will never open unless Groove is already open (either through my using it or the random open).

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? Any ideas? Do I need a priest?

finally got the holiday bundle, some questions

Hi guys!

Mr. Rubino told me to join this forum to see what's up with my newest phone, the HP Elite x3.

Little intro: I've had Windows Mobile since WP7, on my HTC Surround. Then got a Nokia 720, then most recently, my lovely 1520.

I actually had 2 1520s. My first one unfortunately became too annoying to use because I threw it at someone (with a case) and dropped it a little too much so my Cortana button kept being "pressed" and rendered the phone pretty unusable. So I got a replacement and have been using that for the past 2.5 years I think. Been great to use, always get comments on its size and basically made me dependent on a BIG phone.

I've been drooling of the HP since the first ads came out and have been saving up for just the phone (no initial interest in the docks). Then our favorite "holiday" Black Friday came along sporting that $999 deal and I had to pull the trigger.

I got it yesterday and set everything up. I messed up the screen protector a bit, not a super clean install, but the silicone case looks alright and does the job I suppose. Don't know if I want to spend any more for a case I most likely won't use. I'm pretty responsible and don't foresee dropping it.

So I updated for like 4 hours to the newest W10M and forgot to do a hard reset afterwards (the cause of me struggling with my old 1520, texts didn't send, various other issues), but so far, I've had none of those issues with the HP but we will see.

I really like the lap dock and used it only briefly to set up my favorites on Edge but will report back since I have paired a Bluetooth mouse to my phone and want to see how they work together. I plan to use it for my plane/train rides which have become more frequent because of work but mainly for personal use though. A few work related things are browser based but I need my big daddy CAD machine for the rest. This will help cut down on luggage space though for quick day/weekend trips.

This phone/lap dock may very well replace my personal laptop though. The only reason I use it now is to download music (it's my music library that I sync to my phone from) and for reliable Skyping since sometimes the 1520 didn't do a great job (battery, lagginess, etc.).

Anyway, a few questions/comments:

1) Bluetooth: when pairing to my car, it had a hard time this morning connecting and staying connected. I also miss the "gadgets" of the Nokia because now my phone won't autoplay (first world problem I know).

2) Battery: I literally just got the phone yesterday so won't have too much to report. It came out of the box with like 80-90% I think, and by the time updates were done, it was closer to 40%. No big deal, expected, especially over the 4.5-5 hours it took. I plugged it into the desk dock to charge (no monitor connection) and when the green LED came on, I took it off. Pressed the lock button and no screen. I had to hold down the lock button repeatedly until the screen came back.

Using it today at work, I was mainly installing/updating apps and from 96% battery at 11pm last night, it currently has 45% at this time, 2:20pm EST. Was listening to music while downloading and rearranging my start screen, downloading wallpaper from Edge, and texting/receiving emails. So far, I think it's holding up really well.

3) Heat: was pretty warm during all the updates, a little warm today during the app downloads, but other than, cold as ice!

Look forward to everything that comes with updates though! I am lowkey a strong believer in WP and hope it grows/gets better. I don't care about the app gap, haven't had a problem in the 7ish years I've had it except the occasional harassment about not having snappychat or xxx_sicknewgame_xxx.

I'll report back on how my mouse works with Continuum and the lap dock (hopefully it goes well!).

I'm diving into the new Dell XPS 13 (9360) with Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor for my review next week, so it's nice to see some new drivers get released.

If you own the latest XPS 13 (which, spoiler alert, is fantastic), you'll want to go to Dell's website and grab around fifteen or so updated drivers dated November 29. None of these updates are "critical" so they won't show up in Dell's Update Utility (for whatever reason), but they are listed as "recommended."

I personally prefer not to have a local storage for One Drive. I would rather use One Drive as a virtual drive on my PC. Is there a way to configure that?

Internet browser crashing on heavier websites.

I've noticed that whenever I go into a "heavier" website (with a lot of scripts and content on it), the browser app crashes. I've done a factory reset, but it didn't help. I've also checked the internal storage and I have plenty of space. All apps and software are also updated. Any idea what the problem might be? Do you think this is caused due to the phone not having enough RAM (only 512 mb)?

I cant login to my pc.

Ok, so a few weeks ago, i got my gaming pc. Its the asus rog g20 by the way. I tried to play terraria, didnt work. I looked up how to fix it and it said reinstall .net and .xna. I did that, the day after, i couldnt login. Everything starts up, i get to the screen where i enter my password (and i know its right, i never changed it before,) and when i enter it, it says welcome... black screen for a few seconds and then i get thrown back to the screen where it displays the time. If anyone can help, i would really appreciate it.

Outlook 365 email date-time wrong on sent emails

I've been having this problem for about 1 week and I'm tearing my hair out. I send an email (happens on all accounts) and the time date is correct in my sent folder, but when I receive a reply from the recipient I notice that the time date is a different time and 1-1/2 years in the future.

This happens when using Windows mail on my desktop (Windows 10) or through Outlook from my browser. I've tried both Firefox (my default) and Edge. Some problem all around.

My date, time and region settings are all correct. I have removed and re-added accounts through Outlook online and Windows Mail.

ARGH! HELP! :unhappysweat:

One Drive not auto-syncing

On my old computer everything worked fine - dragging a file to One Drive gave the rotating arrows showing it was being uploaded followed by the green tick to say it had been completed successfully. I have just bought a new Dell Inspiron with W.10 which of course includes One Drive. However when I drag a file to that location there is no visual confirmation that anything is happening. I am logged on with my Microsoft Account and have been to settings and checked everything. One Drive is set to start automatically on booting. Anyone any ideas please ? Regards Dave

MS Health and 3rd Party Bands (Or the Sad Fall of MS Health)

Two days ago my 5th MS Band 2 developed a tear, and I braced myself for leaving the MS Health eco-system. Sure enough, when I got to the MS Store, the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable representative told me he didn't have any more Bands. He did let me exchange it for a Fitbit Surge.

Now, my wife has had a Fitbit for awhile, and while I appreciate that it hasn't died nearly as many times as my Band, I still like the MS Health platform a great deal more. I remember when they first released the platform, they implied that 3rd party trackers would work with it. I think we have all probably seen that graphic of the band, along with what looks like a jawbone and fitbit device "syncing" data with MS Health. And while the original Band was out, I kept looking for alternatives that would sync with MS Health, but none seemed to appear.

All that being said, at one point the platform looked as if it would support 3rd party devices. Do we know why that has never emerged? Was it something that MS wanted to do and then decided against? Is it something that 3rd parties like Fitbit never took them up on? It seems like all of these platforms have some level of interoperability. Is it simply a matter of someone working on some software to link them? Or are there technical limitations that have excluded this option?

In addition to that, I wonder, with all the MS Bands silently dying and not being replaced, what does MS do with the MS Health platform it created. Does it let it silently die as well? Thanks for listening.

i m currently able to get a lumia 640 Xl at a very good price, which i would like to use as a W10M device but it would gonna be my main and only device.

So i want to ask you guys that how is the performance of Lumia 640 Xl with W10M with both current general public and insiders builds. Is it reliable on any of these builds and stable to use as main work device.

My main concern, is it stable and reliable enough that OS and Apps not crash and causes random reboots. did W10M has mature enough untill now in reliablity and usage, so that i can use it as my main device OS with Lumia 640 Xl.

I'm asking that because i also didn't have tried W10M untill now.

PS: I m comfortable to run fast insider builds but consider that i want to run it as my main device.

Email Tiles Disappeared

My Yahoo and Outlook email tiles just vanished from the screen this morning. I have reset the phone and no resolution. I have not tried to remove the accounts and re-establish which I suppose may be the next step.

Is anyone else having issues with email? This is the one feature that has always worked quite well for me in W10?

BTW - I am running version 14965 on a 640 XL.

Issues when scrolling on the Navigation Pane

I am not sure if this is a Windows 10 or Surface Book issue.

Basically if when I scroll on the navigation pane two things happen:
- The scrolling is slow and no smooth
- When scrolling down there are some weird visual effects on the bottom of the pane

This happens when using the touch pad or the touch screen but not when using a mouse.

Voice call in lumia950xl

When I make a voice call or someone calls me I can hear them perfectly but they keep saying that they can't hear me very well. it isn't one call or two but many calls. nokia lumia won't update to w10 anymore

My 930 was already a year updated to w10m but the last month my phone showed some 'errors' like battery 50% after a video(1 min) 12% and after 10 seconds it goes off with the goodbye but i hear the sound of the video the whole time even after 1 hour. and in the morning it didn't booted so i used lumia recovery tool. everything works fine but it has downgraded to 8.1. i miss much feuture's in the windows 10 update. so i tried using upgrade advisor it says that it isn't available for my phone?! i had w10m on my phone, so i tried windows insider. i get a error that my connection is bad or my time isn't correct. but it is. it is automatic. the phone is btw the normal phone it doesn't have a provider name or that sort opf things. please help me, and don't pay to much attention to my grammer.. english isn't my main langauge

From 640 to 950 & 950 XL on AT&T

After wading through too many threads on the subject I've created a new thread to briefly describe my experience in an effort to provide others this information:
After using a three 640s for the past year (Insider Fast, Release Preview and Release - switching the MicroSIM) I didn't buy a 950 or XL in hopes of being patient for the Surface phone and reading about issues people were having with unlocked 950 and XL phone features on USA AT&T.
The 2-fur (plus Dock) offer from MS and another year maybe before Surface I finally jumped at the MS offer. 950 XL Dual SIM and a 950 Dual SIM arrived.
Because the 640 used a MicroSIM and the 950 series uses the MacroSIM I was concerned about getting a fully functional phone(s) on the AT&T network.
I didn't turn either on and took the 950 DS to my local AT&T (ie. real AT&T) store. The manager of the store was who I got to help me get the MacroSIM and I explained my about concern about ending up with a "fully functioning" phone. Specifically the IMEI issue. He understood. He went in the back and burned a MacroSIM using one of their IMEI 950 devices.
Inserted the SIM into the unlocked 950, plugged phone into AC and after a few minutes of bringing the battery level up a bit the phone started up. Setup went well until I tried to log into my MS account. This was over unsecured AT&T Store WiFi. I suggested switching to a secure WiFi and it worked. Thank you Bradley.
Went home and started the Update process. It installed one what I think was a Firmware update and then the W10m update. Download stayed at 0% throughout but I walked away for an hour, came back and the "Preparing to Install" was in process. Eventually REBOOT and the phone was at the latest Anniversary version. Turned it off, inserted a Samsung 128G microSD card. Turned on, card recognized. Good to go.
Switched SIM to 950 XL and repeat. Good to go.
I now have two unlocked 950 DS phones with all functions working on AT&T ie. double tap wake up, glance screen, LTE (when in a LTE area) and visual voice mail. I just asked Cortana from my Band 2 what the weather is in Monterey CA and it actually worked. Installed SquadWatch and it actually worked (again) with a 640.
What did I get for $500? Two really quick phones (one will go to Fast Insider), two excellent cameras (ZEISS) Continuum and all functions firing on all cylinders. I hope this might be helpful to some. I lost my patience waiting for a Surface phone but I got a fix for the moment. The 640 is a good trooper but I am really liking these to "Last of the Lumia" MS phones. Day two has good battery life and no crashes, nor do I expect any!

New firmware for the HP Lap Dock improves Elite x3 touchpad experience

Calendar Entries for Packages

I like the ability to just click Cortana and see package status for expected packages. What I don't like is the fact that she keeps putting entries in my calendar for the days that packages are expected to arrive. I find this rather irritating.

Is there a way to keep tracking packages, but turn off the entries that are being put into the calendar? If not, I'll just turn off package tracking, because I do have a preferred app for that anyway. Thanks!

OneDrive not updating on Windows 10 mobile

Hi,

I have a OneDrive account which I use for sharing files between various devices, including a desktop still running Windows 7, a laptop running Windows 10 and a Microsoft Lumia 950 running the latest Windows 10 mobile.

The problem is with the mobile. E.g. if I create a text file on, say, Windows 7 and save it to OneDrive, I can open it on the mobile file. However, the mobile opens it read-only in Microsoft Word. If I then modify the contents on the Windows 7 machine, the update does not get synced to the mobile device - it still displays the original contents of the file, even though the file's metadata show the later last modified date and time.

It's like Word is keeping a cached version somehow, which is just plain daft!

Is this because the text file is being opened on the mobile device with Microsoft Word? I can't see how.

Any assistance gratefully received.

VPN problem over cellular data?

I've posted this issue before. Someone mentioned something about choosing automatic VPN type when setting things up, and unfortunately it wasn't helpful.
After some experimenting, I've found out that the problem exists only when I try to connect to VPN over cellular data. It works fine on Wi-Fi. I use L2TP and AnyConnect. Everything was fine on WP 8.1, but not on Windows 10. I'm on build .14965.1001
Any ideas?

Power cover recognise as type cover

Hi There,

I just got myself a power cover but I can't see it charging.

When I check into device Manager for keyboard it indicates a "type cover" only and not a "power cover".
I tried to clean up connectors
When connect and disconnect only "type cover" pops up in the device manager.

The battery icone shows either 0% or 100% for the secondary battery

powercfg/batteryreport gives
same name for battery 2 as battery 1
different manufacturer
different Serial numbers.
Capacities are not shown (and never has been) for either of them
cycle count is only available for battery 1.

Any Ideas ?

Lumia 930 Problem with Camera-Focus

Hallo Community :)

I'm a happy owner of a Lumia 930 for a while now but a few weeks ago, my camera started to not be able to focus any more.

I try to take a quick picture, tap on the screen to set a focus point, but even if the phone is able to focus, it looses the focus with in a split second.
It's also the first time that the phone makes noises (humming) while trying to focus.

I selected two pictures to show you what i mean. With the first one, the phone was not able to focus - even with multiple attempts.
The second one was just a snapshot at the zoo - that's how i know my camera :)

I haven't done any significant upgrading in the past.
I am using the Lumia Camera App vers. 5.0.2.56

Gmail Web and Outlook mobile app

Hi All

Having syncing issues between Gmail on the web, and the outlook mobile app.

I delete emails from the phone( mobile app), they do not delete from the Gmail web interface.

When I delete from the web interface, they delete from the phone.

The mobile app is set to: "As Items Arrive"

Any thoughts as to why, syncing is not up to date from phone to web?

Downloads saving in phone memory!!!

I tried to download Men's Of War, from a site called ocean of games. It was a 4.27gb .iso file. I have 7gbs of free space on my SD and just 1.5 Mb in my phone storage section. The setting says that it must download it SD card but while downloading, the phone memory gradually gets filled!! And I have still 7gb empty in SD whereas have 45mb left in phone storage. I let it download the file, but after downloading 3.2gb ( idk how it downloaded 3.2gb when it had only 1.5gb space free!!), it says not enough space in phone storage. The settings are download new files to SD card. How to fix it???!!

Hi I have a Nokia Lumia 730 phone and wish to buy a portable keyboard

to use with it, but on close inspection, they all seem to exclude working with Windows 8.1. Is there a way round this or do you know of any that will work with my phone please? OneNote slow to sync

I have alot of notes that I use for work. It seems my 950 tried to sync my entire notebook when I just want to retrieve the last few created notes. After about 10 minutes of forcing the phone to stay awake, it still doesn't want to sync. Eventually the scree will timeout and when I go back in to OneNote, it tells me that the sync failed.

From what I have read in feedback and other forums, this problem has only been existing over the last few months. Can anyone confirm if they are experiencing issues now but were not a few months ago? If that is the case, it gives me hope that it will get fixed eventually. My android never had this problem.

If I remove the Pictures folder from the Sync schedule in OneDrive settings (I do not want the photos on my Surface Book, I just want them uploaded from the phone to be backed up into the OneDrive cloud), I will get a Sync error in OneDrive saying something like the folder already exist in one of the locations and I have to delete it, I do, then the OneDrive sync error goes away for a while, onetheless it will surface again, there is no way to remove the error unless I enable folder Sync for the Pictures folder again, do you have an idea on what could be the root cause and how it can be fixed? Quiet Phone with timeout

Is there any possibility to make my Windows phone quiet for a predefined time?
Typically when a meeting is starting, I can make the phone quite for 1 hour as an example.
Today I always forgot to turn on the sound after the meeting. And I will not notice that until late in the evening sometimes.

Before i could easyliy reach 'Quiet Hours' thru the drop down menu.
Where I could enter which time and which days the phone should be quite (typically in the night).
Is that feature gone now?

OneNote on 950 XL - What A WASTE!

I've been a OneNote user for at least 5 years and I've no problem syncing my notebooks across between MacBook, Lumia 920, Surface Pro 3, or iPhone 6. But since I got my Lumia 950 XL, I have experienced gut wrenching problems syncing notebooks with photos (4-5 Mbs per photo) with my laptops and other devices.

I reinstalled the app - no luck. I turned off the auto sync - no luck. I closed all my notebooks - no luck.
I searched the Internet looking for answers - no luck.

I contacted Microsoft Support - who gave me a phone number and a website. The former turned out to be a support line for Office for MAC!!!!! The latter directed me to a third party customer care service provider. Microsoft doesn't even care about their phone users any more!!!!!!

I am content with 950 XL but the smooth OneNote syncing across all my devices is crucial to my workflow.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Fresh install of Win10 AU for the Black Friday purchasers?

Ordered a i5 SP4 during the Black Friday deal and perhaps there are many others out there who also is new to Surface.
Still waiting having it delivered so im just guessing when I say that it might not come with the Anniversary Update installed from factory.

Anyway, perhaps im not the only one who wonder how to update this thing?

What VPN Would You Recommend For Windows 10

Hello, I've been using freebies for a while through their sites... and my nature of job demands i change my IP to a certain location, for reporting and other purposes. apparently, the sites are slow, broken or too commercial and it's a pain to use them without killing my productivity time.

Even on the phone, it's a bigger pain to gain access using Edge (i use Lumia 950) since the big browsers aren't available on Win store.

So, after early 6 months of frustration, i've finally decided to get myself an actual vpn. which one would you guys suggest?

2. Music playback gets interrupted by notifications. Why would one want that??
3. Cannot pin Outlook or Gmail folders to the start screens
4. Only want selected apps notification turn the screen on.
5. Notification should only happen for new items not unread ones. Like Whatsapp/SMS notifies for every unread message, which is annoying. You just want to be notified the new messages
6. The volume rockers don't allow you to control music playback
7. Cannot get to notifications without unlocking

Photo Upload Settings Missing

My mom asked me about why Onedrive was using loads of data and I thought she didn't have the right setting for photo uploads. Well, I go to the upload settings and there's no option to change it to upload on Wifi like you could on WP8.1. I looked at my 950 and it doesn't have the setting either. Simple Solution Background procedures Close ALL.

Unless I am missing something why do we have to close background procedures 1 by 1?
why cant we close them all in 1 long key press or swipe up/down, (swiping down closes a background procedure on that app or procedure/Menu)
Rather annoying to have to swipe them all down 1 by 1...
This is 2016 this feature should be standard.

Should i change from MacBook Pro to Surface Pro 4?

I have been using MacBook Pro 13" (not the retina display) with Windows 10 OS using Bootcamp. I find some friends/colleagues say that using MacBook Pro with Windows 10 OS is kinda 'weird'. I used to be an OS X guy, but I shifted since I use Lumia phone around May last year. I like MacBook's premium 'feel' and its durability. It still works very fine.

I am so excited about the Surface Pro 4 (core i5, 128 SSD, 4 GB of RAM). I think it fits more with my everyday work: MS Office, browsing, multimedia, small photo editing. I can also do note-taking with the pen, write on it, reading e-books (I use iPad 2 for reading purposes), and it is also light. Since MacBook Pro is quite heavy, I use it only when I work at home or when I am not at the office. At office, I use office's laptop.

Some friends said that Windows 10 OS is full of viruses and malwares compared to OS X (that OS X is virus free), after 2-3 years Windows 10 OS will crash, within two or three years of usage I'm gonna have to spend money to buy new Windows laptop. They suggest to me to get the Wacom stylus to use it iPad should I wanna have the 'writing' experience.

Even after reading or watching many reviews on internet about Surface Pro 4, I'm still indecisive.

Camera, cannot add Office Lens to Camera Lenses

I have Office Lens installed. When I open Camera and go to Lenses, there is no Office Lens available. I have Lumia Selfie and Lumia Cinemagraph installed and they are there OK. But no Office Lens. If I tap "find more lenses", MS Store opens and at first it says "Owned", then "This product is installed". And I can launch it from the Store (and from the Apps list of the Phone). But the Camera won't show Office Lens when I tap gear icon and go to Lenses.

Before updating from 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile I had the Office Lens app listed in the Camera.

I have faced several irritating and annoying "features" since updating from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile. This is just one of them. Windows 10 Mobile just causes me constant struggling, confusion, googling and rage. Too bad. Just wanted to release some steam from my head.

Hey guys I been wondering. I know the phone has 3gb of ram is there a way to find out how much ram is being used with an app? Another thing I'm confused about the camera. I see there 8mp jpeg + 16mp dng. Though when I take a pic I see one that jpeg at 2160x3840 then I see two dng at like 448x800 is there something wrong? Or am I missing something about this 8mp jpeg+16mp dng setting? I would think dng 16mp would be higher? :/

Transfer apps between 2 Lumia 950 XLs?

I have a Lumia 950 XL with hardware problems and may get a new one. I store all apps, pics, etc on an SD card, not the main phone. Is there a way I can drop the new chip into another brand new 950 XL and not lose app data? Most of my apps do not support the cloud, so the data is stored with the apps themselves.

If there is no way to avoid data loss, can someone recommend a phone ecosystem that would prevent app data loss? I never want to go through this again.

Trying to restore backup on Lumia 550 fails due "we're unable to connect to a network.."

Hi, I created a backup on my Lumia 550 before updating to build 494. I have been unable to restore the backup and it always fails after entering the verification code with a "We're unable to connect to a network message....."

The phone is connected to a wifi network and has mobile data enabled. It obviously connects to the the associated MS account to find the backup in the first place so I don't think my network is the issue.

I have tried soft/hard resetting, pulling the battery and re-installing the software using device recovery tool but the restore always fails at the same point.

So either it's server-side (I'm doing this over the w/e - maybe there's maintenance or something?) or the update borked something?

I had no idea how horrible fleas could be! A roommate put one of my "indoor" cats outside overnight, leading to a major flea infestation. To make matters worse, I am allergic to flea bites, and for whatever reason, I was the only person in the house being bitten. No insurance or banking apps

I've been waiting to have store updated with banking and insurance company apps, why aren't there any? Bank apps for DCU, CHASE etc and insurance apps like Statefarm, Nationwide etc .. this makes us to leave microsoft and switch to andriod .. Windows maps are not getting updated or showing insufficient information about details of upcoming routes ... Here maps were little better ...

I came across this overview of hybrid storage technology, which is used in the Studio for both drives (1T / 2T capacity) that are offered. Yes, Seagate has a vested interest in making this kind of data storage seem as appealing as it can, but this presentation seems reasonable enough with respect to what is actually involved in the process of managing data that can reside on either or both a 2.5" 5400 RPM disk drive and a smallish Solid State Drive. This page feels as though it may be a couple of years old by now, and if the price of SS storage continues to drop, the market for hybrid products may fade away in the next few years except for the most penny-conscious of manufacturers. For the moment, however, MS has chosen to put hybrid drives in the Studio AIO. If the product survives, several tens of thousands of them will be produced before we see the same approach to storage in the Studio that we have seen already in the predecessor Surface devices.

Windows update error 0xc1900107

Hi guys,

Recently, a friend of mine bought Surface pro 4 from my recommendation. The newly machine could not install the Anniversary Update. It downloaded the update, trying to install it, only reverting back to the previous build. I tried to force the update (downloading the update assistant) but resulting in this erroe 0xc1900107.

Is there a quick fix on this since she is not a techie and I cannot go help her in person. She does not want to reset the machine either :unhappysweat:

I am a bit feeling the responsibility since I am the one recommending her the SP4. And since it is a new machine from Microsoft, it is really frustrating that this is happening (well, my Surface has no problem though).

My audio port has just broken, how do I get it repaired?

Got my headphone jack caught and it has broken the inside of the audio port, jack no longer fits and headphones/line-in no longer work. Is it possible to get it repaired and how do I do this?

Surface Book with Performance Base Not Using Nvidia 965M

Hi,

I just began using the Surface Book with Performance Base (i7, 16/512). Device Manager shows both the Intel 520 and the 965M working properly. When I tried to open the Nvidia Control Panel, it said that there was no Nvidia GPU attached. After making sure that Windows Update was completely updated, I installed the latest Nvidia Drivers, which did allow me to access the Nvidia Control Panel. It may be worth noting that it doesn't seem let me use the 965M for PhysX. Although I selected it, the graphic never moved from the 520 to the 965M.
One major reason I wanted this device was how well it handled gaming. I saw a Windows Central review video that showed it running Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon really well, considering the hardware. I'm not expecting it to be a powerhouse and understand its limitations, but I really don't think it's using the 965M. On this device, Forza runs subpar on low settings - unlike the video. I don't have Gears 4 on PC so I can't test it. I tried Street Fighter V on low settings and that also had terrible results. It really seems like it's using the 520 rather than the 965M, unless the 965M is really that bad.
Does anyone have any ideas? I saw an article that tries to force the previous Surface to use the Nvidia card and those steps didn't really do anything.

top right controls unresponsive to mouse clicks

The windows of most 'programs' have three or more controls in the top right corner. The left mouse of my Toshiba laptop with Win10 version 1607, has no effect in clicking on them. If I want to close a window, I have to click on the File Menu and choose EXIT. How to cure this ?
