After performing all those solutions if still WMP crashes then here is the ultimate solution:
- Create a new folders name as MyMusic
- Go into your Music folder and select all subfolders move them to MyMusic
- Do same to your videos move to MyVideos
- Rename your photos folder to another temp name that WMP cannot find it
- Delete all files & folders in folder: C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Media\12.0\
- Delete all files & folders in folder: C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player\
- Run WMP:: at this point no crash occurs
- if crashed it does after few seconds that you must quickly do as many as possible of following items:
- Click on Organize>>Manage Libraries>>{Music/Videos/Pictures/Recorded TV}:: delete all links under each category
- Click on Organize>>Options:: uncheck all checked items under every upper tab
- these usually fix WMP crash
- now you keep WMP running and move 1by1 each music folder into original folder Music and watch WMP in action as it immediately begins to catalogue each folder.
- if at any folder move WMP crashes then some files or subfolders in that folder is/are corrupt or WMP does not like them find them and save them elsewhere for later to convert or fix them.
