This (the article in link below) seems a important and interesting advance of technology in Microsoft's wheelhouse of expertise: Big data.
It's seems mostly research now, but Microsoft has partnered with, among others, a substantial health care provider and research hospital(s) in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, or something like that. (Perhaps surprisingly, Pittsburgh is a bit of a tech center due Carnegie-Mellon and U of P).
And it works with Google Fit (on phones) and Google Wear (fitness bands), as well as Band 2, so they are yielding to other fitness devices, and wisely so: Microsoft is so-so at (some) consumer stuff, but I'm not naming which ones, it's a privileged class.
