Surface Pro 3 - wonky Windows key on new screen

I've rescued a Surface Pro 3 - it had something wrong with the original screen where random phantom touch activations would occur in a column down the screen left of center.

I've pulled the screen (broke it to all hell doing so) and popped a new one on. The new screen works fine, touch is fine. Except the bezel Windows key is registering touches when there is none.

I've removed and reinstalled both the touch screen and "Surface Button" drivers and the problem continues.

Is there a known issue here before I send the screen back or is it just my luck that I got a bad screen?

Cheers.
