Ok a confession here, I have both! While the Gear VR does have some advantages over the Daydream View, I still prefer the Daydream. It's compatible with more phones, including some Samsung phones, and I think it's easier to find content and download games and apps. NOW in some cases Gear VR has stuff that Daydream does not have, plus it has a way to view just about any app within VR, NOT just VR content. It's called Phonecast VR.
